Champions League 25th Anniversary -

Quarter-Final - Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea

The Champions League returns this week and we are celebrating it here at ITV Sport Archive by going through our vault to find some of the best games featuring British clubs since the competition began 25 years ago.

In 2004, Arsene Wenger's Arsenal were chasing the treble, as well as being on course to become the first Premier Leaue team to go the whole season unbeaten. But after their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United, the Gunners took on Chelsea at Highbury three days later in the second-leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie. Chelsea had never beaten Arsenal at Highbury in Claudio Ranieri's reign at the club, but that run would end in the most dramatic way in front of the ITV cameras.
